I just get back to Saugerties after 13 years of not living here. I throw on #WPDH (which was my favourite station when I’d left, and I’m super happy to hear that it’s just as awesome) and as I’m driving the moving truck into the storage unit, I hear they’re having an Inko de Mayo. Giving away Mötley Crüe tickets and tattoo gift certificates.
Perfect! Especially after a long, 2,700 mile drive…
So here’s my entry… I have a sleeve and a hand/wrist tattoo, all done by @dan_loose in Ocala, Florida at Fat Kats Artistry (check them out!)
The hand tattoo says Inion na Saoirse, which is Irish for “daughter of freedom”. The rest of the tattoo is loaded with meaning… It’s a dedication to friends who have passed away, three of them in 9/11. Each part has a specific meaning.
The sleeve is a dedication to my family, living and passed. The female cardinal represents my maternal grandmother, the scales of justice/773 is for my dad (who was a State Trooper and then judge in the Town of Ulster for a couple of decades)… Everyone is basically there: my sister, godmother, all four grandparents, Mom and Dad… The banner reads, ‘The Steady Hand to Victory’ which is the O’Sullivan family motto.
